Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos has been ruled out of the Spanish Copa Del Rey clash with lower league opposition Alcoyano as a result of a knee injury. His absence from the game was confirmed by Diario AS. Sergio Ramos was one of three Real Madrid players to miss training on Tuesday morning as the Los Merengues stepped up preparations for the Alcoyano clash. Real Madrid are the overwhelming favourites for the Copa Del Rey meeting with the Segunda B club but they can’t afford to be complacent like they did against Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup last week.


Sergio Ramos and his Real Madrid teammates were massive favourites ahead of the Spanish Super Cup semi-final clash with Athletic Bilbaobut they were not able to live up to the hype. Real Madrid were beaten 2-1 by Athletic Bilbao who qualified for the final at the expense of the La Liga holders.

Ex-Atletico Madrid player Raul Garcia did the damage for Bilbao with two goals in the first half, while Karim Benzema scored the lone goal for Real Madrid in the second half. Real Madrid were the Spanish Super Cup before they were knocked out by Athletic Bilbao as pointed out earlier. Athletic Bilbao would go on to replace Real Madrid as winners after they saw off Barcelona in the final at the end of extra time. Bilbao beat Barcelona 3-2 to win the competition.

Sergio Ramos picked upknocks in the game against Celta Vigo in the Spanish La Ligaand the aforementioned Athletic Bilbao clash. The Real Madrid skipper is suffering from a knee issue and he had to be bandaged up at the end of the Bilbao game last week.Apart from Sergio Ramos, Dani Carvajal and Rodrygo Goes also missed the latest training session and are out of the Copa Del Rey match with Alcoyano.
