The centre-back of Real Madrid, Sergio Ramos, has expressed his disappointment over his side’s defeat in the final match of the Copa Del Rey against Atletico Madrid.
Real Madrid was defeated by 2-1 in the final match. They had started well and had taken the lead with the goal of Cristiano Ronaldo in the 14th minute, but, Atletico bounced back superbly after that.
Diego Costa scored the equalizer for Atletico in the 35th minute, and then, Miranda with a fine header in the 8th minute of the extra time gave them a decisive lead of 2-1.
When asked about that match, Ramos said, “It was disappointing to end up on the losing side in the final. Atletico played better than us and they deserved to lift the trophy.”
“I think we got a little bit complacent after scoring that first goal. We lost 3 or 4 easy opportunities. You can’t afford to do that in a big game like final.”
When asked about the overall performance of Real Madrid in this season, Ramos said, “We didn’t manage to win any title this season. The whole team is gutted about that. I just want to say to our supporters to keep faith in the team. Hopefully, the next season will be better for us.”
When asked about the exit of Jose Mourinho after this season, Ramos said, “We will miss him for sure. He is one of the best coaches going around. I personally had a very good tuning with him. He helped me a lot in improving my game.”
“It’s his personal decision to move back to England and rather than debating on it, we should just respect his decision.”
Mourinho served Real Madrid as a manager for three years. Recently, he returned to his former club Chelsea.
